Cemetery Rules and Regulations
Cemetery Hours:
*October 01, to March 31: 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM daily
*April 01, to September 30: 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM daily
Burials:
*No burials will be made on Sundays, or the following days: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
*No burial will be made without full payment for the grave space.
*All burials require a vault with a one piece lid. NO CONCRETE BOXES
*We have a tent, but we do not have a lowering device or grass.
***PLEASE GIVE 48 HOURS NOTICE FOR OPENING OF A GRAVE***
Foundations:
*Foundations must be formed and poured by Township employees.
*No foundation will be poured until the grave space has been paid for in full.
*Foundations are $.50 per square inch, with a minimum charge of $90. Effective 07/01/2018, there will be a charge for a 6 inch border on all foundations.
*Benches require a foundation
*Foundations will not be poured between October 15 and March 15, due to the possibility of freezing.
*Please note: The cemetery staff will NOT set headstone that have been ordered online. You are responsible for supplying someone to set the headstone.
Monuments:
*Monuments may not be delivered to the cemetery until all foundation work has been completed.
*Monuments on a single grave may not exceed 42" in length. Double monuments may not exceed 7'. A 6" border will be added.
*Homemade monuments and/or markers may not be set on any grave.
*No monument may be set until full payment for the grave space has been made.
Veterans:
*A free grave will be provided for the burial of the body of any deceased veteran or nurse who is eligible for other veteran benefits upon application and presentation of proper documentation by a relative or other proper person.
*Grave sites are predetermined by the township
*The open and close fee will be charged
*The fee for a veterans marker foundation is $65.00
*Grave will be identified only by a bronze veterans marker, in the veterans section only.
Grave Sites:
*No shrubbery, trees, or flowers of any kind may be planted at grave sites. All existing shrubbery, trees, or flowers in the cemetery may be trimmed or removed as necessary at the discretion of the township trustees.
*No wires or other objects shall be used to secure decorations
*Decorations placed on lots and or graves for special holidays such as Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and all funeral flowers shall be removed after 7 days. ALL flowers and decorations will be removed from the first Monday in March for a period of 5 working days. If decorations are not removed within this time frame, they will be removed by township employees.
*All mowing will be done by township crews. No power tools may be used in the cemetery by individuals other than township crews. Hand trimming may be done by individuals.
*Grass or sod shall be planted as soon as possible by township employees to maintain the uniform appearance of the cemetery. Ground settling and weather will determine this time frame.
Purchasing Requirements:
*No grave will be held longer than 30 days without a deposit of one half (1/2) of the purchase price.
*An initial deposit of one half (1/2) of the purchase price is required with the balance to be paid within one year. No burial may be made, foundation poured, or monument set without payment in full for the grave/graves.
*The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees reserves the right to refund money paid for grave(s) on delinquent accounts.
*An individual on a fixed income may purchase a single grave without a specified deposit amount and make regular payments until payment in full is made. In the event that an individual on a fixed income is responsible for and adult dependent child they may purchase a grave in this same manner for the adult dependent child.
